Winter is coming…
and with it, the busy holiday season!
Kat & Thistle has been so busy the last few months. Days are filled with cutting, forming, sewing, dyeing, starching, and packaging, and nights are spent dreaming up new ideas.
We’ve come up with a lot of new things lately and are looking forward to many more… if only there were more hours in a day!
I spend most of my time working on Kat & Thistle – my messy house is testament to that! – but still there are always dozens of things on the go at any one time in the studio, and I head to bed late in the evening, frustrated at not being able to finish more in a day. But I digress!
There’s always tomorrow!
We’re working on a new retail display for Bella Ever After that we hope to have finished and in-store by mid December. We’ve also recently started our shift over to Cotton & Silk and have been furiously prepping all of our synthetic fabrics so they can bloom into flowers and be shipped off to retail to make way for the creamy cottons and scrumptious silks!

Monday Blahs? oh I mean Wednesday
I am a little late this week (was Monday really two days ago?) but better late than never. There has been so much going on that I hardly know what day it is, with deadlines coming and going. Anniversary party, wedding shower and weddings, Kat & Thistle is involved in the finest details. At the moment I have the bridal bouquet on the list and of course a beautiful hand crafted hair adornment all due at the end of the month. Keep you posted on how it all turns out.

Fall, Family and a Fabulous Time!
The long weekend is almost over for me. Visiting at my sister’s place in Ottawa has made it a busy weekend. Her little character of a cat (a shaded golden Persian) was ever there watching my every move with my fabric ends that I brought along to work with while I was away. Getting much done hasn’t been too successful. Parents were visiting from WAY north. The big excitement was to see my brothers new baby Alexzander. I am also very excited what is coming for Kat & Thistle! It looks like we are going to be very busy in the coming months. Kitty was hard at work this weekend as well. When I get home later today we will be happy to show each other our finds, though I am sure she will have more to show than me, being so busy with family.
Its been a hot hot summer!
We’ve been sweating it out this summer in the ‘studio’. Many changes have happened there! We’ve gotten more organized, set up an office computer, and installed many organizational items to arrange our supplies more efficently.
Thistle has been roaming the lands all spring/summer, from trips to enchanting Scotland, beautiful Saskatchewan, camping fun, and a few visits to the Ottawa area for the birth of her first Nephew, and just earlier this month to Maxville for the Glengarry Highland Games. All these trips have filled her with loads of inspiration for lots of beautiful adornments! (Kat holds down the fort while everyone is gone – someone’s gotta feed the goggies! haha.)
We’ve also sold out of just about everything we had at Bella Ever After in Stirling, Ontario. We pumped out a bunch of single blooms in fun summer colours and romantic lacy pale colours. You’ve got to hurry to Bella though, as they will no doubt go fast!
We’re currently in the studio working on fall pieces, and will hopefully have a sizeable collection coming soon to Bella, and also to other places in the Belleville area.
We hope everyone is keeping cool! Fall is on the way, and so are more beautiful creations from Kat & Thistle!

How we love the sunshine!
It may still be chilly, but at least the sun is shining!
I’ve done a bit of work on the website today… hopefully I’ll be able to get some more done before I have to go to town to run errands.
I’ve added a ‘where to buy’ page so you can get your very own Kat & Thistle. Our Etsy page will be stocked as soon as possible! -> http://www.etsy.com/shop/katandthistle
I hope you’re all enjoying some sunshine, wherever you are!

Crazy Days
Things have been crazy here at Kat & Thistle. As Kat has mentioned in a previous post, we are going to be showing off our art at the “Women’s” Beauty, Health & Wellness Fair!” Should be a fun event! Check out the Facebook page link for more details. http://www.facebook.com/#!/events/338660889503469/
What have we been working on? Trying to create an atmosphere that best represents us. We have a wonderful display for our hair adornments. Our free gift giveaway will be special and a refection of Kat & Thistle. Dressing in period clothing! Of course the best part, meeting people who love one of kind wearable art.
The photo-shoot is booked and we are hoping for good weather for it. We can’t wait to share all our new creations. Check soon as they will be posted ASAP.

Spring Has Sprung…
And the mud is here. :/
At least the weather is much more temperate than it was a short while ago!
K&T is gearing up for a Women’s Health and Beauty show on March 25th in Tweed, Ontario. We’re trying to have as much product ready as we can for that day, which means a lot of time spent in the studio, and then our first spring photoshoot (Thistle always loves those)!
Hopefully everyone else is enjoying ‘spring’ so far!

Is Spring in the Air
It has been a few years since I have had so many days to myself. To get away and visit my sister Tanya in Gatineau was something that I was looking forward to for weeks, counting down the days and planning it all out. I also brought with me a few supplies to continue with the projects I started for Kat & Thistle. Hoping for some spring inspirations.
Unfortunately a cold was on the horizon and as I have heard others say before and now am a firm believer that [women only get sick when they have time] Now I am sitting here enjoying a quiet morning drinking a green tea watching a blizzard take place and don’t know where I will find spring in all this.
With home sickness coming on [do not know how I will manage 3 weeks away when I head to Scotland in May] and having a quick chat with Kat who assures me that my dogs are fine and that Battousai [the Vizsla you see in some pics here on Kat & Thistle web] is helping her out in her work in the studio [eating all the feathers she is working with]
Spring inspiration may be strong on my mind with so many designs in the works but with feeling under the weather and the actual weather not cooperating who knows what might be created in the next few days. Lets hope its always enchanting, whimsical and always a piece of one of a kind art.
